FOR TEN YEARS the?Barbados Water Authority (BWA) has failed to bill a multimillion-dollar gated community for water usage because no meters had been installed.
BWA sources say that since 2004 no invoices have been issued for 38 condominiums at the upscale Mango Bay Drive, Porters, St James.
The embarrassing situation only came to light a month ago when the BWA was tipped off.
On investigation, workmen discovered that the connection had been made directly to the main and there were no water meters on the expansive property, which is fully enclosed and operated by an electronic gate. However, according to the sources, all of the condos are fully occupied and utilising water.
