Some are calling it nepotism. Others are calling it nephew-tism.
But they are all hopping mad.
There is much disquiet at a certain state agency where a new employee with powerful political connections has been on the job for fewer than six months.
He was brought in since he is reportedly adept at figures. Now without giving any account to other staffers a position is being created at the agency to push uncle’s kin even higher up the ladder in circumstances where someone else will now have to be brought in to do what the man was brought originally to do.
What has drawn the ire of staffers is that he is an outsider brought in an environment where just over a year ago another political individual had made a song and dance about no more hirings. But the new boy has a powerful surname.
What is also vexing is that a number of long-serving employees at the same agency, with all kinds of qualifications behind their names from universities near and far, had applied for the same position and not one has been considered.
Most have not even heard any response from the people to whom they sent their applications.
It is a very important agency and staffers are asking for commonsense to prevail and are stressing that a democracy exists in Barbados and not a feudal system.
Too much talking
A big secret is being exposed about a certain high-flying woman who runs a top-level boutique and hair salon and behaves as if she is one of the housewives of Beverly Hills.
Apparently all of her staff and customers have deserted her and people are saying it is because she just can’t stop flapping her mouth.
She gossips about her staff, she spills the beans on all of her big-up clients, who by the way are the who’s who of Barbados, and she even talks about her family members including her children.
People are saying that she is very jealous of young women and when they walk into her business, looking all fly, she goes about trying to gather dirt on them. These days she can be seen following a certain woman who recently got catapulted to the top in her organisation.
Tongues have begun to wag about her close connection with this woman and people are wondering why she is wearing white all the time, especially when she is in the woman’s company, since there is nothing virginal about her image.
Sweet life gone sour

This man has been MIA for a few months now after a major investigation was launched into his business operation.
