A MAN, who police say ran away from the airport back in April, will appear in court today on drug charges.

Kirk McNeil Griffith, 38, of no fixed place of abode, has been arrested and charged with possession, trafficking and importation of 2.8 kilogrammes (about six pounds) of cannabis.

Police say he arrived by air from St Vincent on April 9 around 5:30 a.m., passed Immigration and proceeded to Customs to have his luggage checked.

Griffith allegedly then fled from the Customs area and the airport.  Police say the search of his suitcase revealed the drug and subsequent investigations led to his arrest.

He is expected to appear at the District “B” Magistrates Court. (PR/NB)
