The impasse that has brought West Indies cricket to its knees has been resolved – and the players on the aborted tour to India are returning to duty without fear of victimisation.

A five-hour meeting under the chairmanship of St Vincent and the Grenadines Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves and involving representatives of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) and the West Indies Players Association (WIPA) brought about a resolution that paves the way for a full-strength team to be selected for the tour of South Africa starting next month.

Well-placed sources revealed to the SUNDAY SUN yesterday that the WICB gave an undertaking that there would be no victimisation in the selection policy pertaining to any player from the India tour whose early end led the Board of Control for Cricket in India to seek US$42 million from the regional governing body.

Additionally, the controversial new memorandum of understanding and collective bargaining agreement, which angered the players because of what they deemed was a significant pay cut, is to go to arbitration.
