Force the resignation of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) and its president and then form a high-powered negotiating team to meet with the Indian Government on the current West Indies cricket mess.
That was the main recommendation of head of the Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies (SALISES), Dr Don Marshall, as time quickly runs out for the WICB to respond to the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) threat of a US$42 million lawsuit for breach of contract and other damages.
There are just seven more days before BCCI launches its legal action against the WICB.
In a stinging condemnation of how the WICB has handled the debacle, Marshall told the SATURDAY SUN that WICB president Dave Cameron in particular should be forced out of office.
According to the University of the West Indies (UWI) academic, the WICB’s decision to call off the tour was “ill-advised” and “the move now threatened to cost the region US$42 million to begin with and potential loss of revenues and certainly loss of reputation”.
