Fraser wants probe into Cave

INDEPENDENT Senator Professor Henry Fraser has called for a drastic change in the marketing of Harrison’s Cave and a public inquiry into its operations.

He was speaking in the Senate yesterday immediately after revelations by Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism and International Transport, Senator Irene Sandiford-Garner, that the island’s main tourist attraction had been losing money and that its financial statements had not been laid in Parliament for a decade.

Fraser described the absence of the financials for what he dubbed “the eighth wonder of the Western world” as “an absolute disgrace that cannot be covered up, it cannot be hidden”. (AB)
