Fashionable way to finish

THERE WERE SEVERAL blanket finishes yesterday at the Garrison Savannah as the quartet of owner Blue Diamond Racing, trainers Anderson Ward and Richard Deane and jockey Jalon Samuel dominated the Barbados Turf Club’s third day of its first racing season, the Coolmore “Home of Champions” Race Day. Each scored three wins.

But those performances were overshadowed by a spectacular driving finish to the day’s feature event between the island’s best horses Just A Fashion and Sirius Black in the 16th edition of the Coolmore Home Of Champions Stakes and Trophy over 1 800 metres.

On the firm track, the brilliance of two of the island’s best jockeys, Jalon Samuel, aboard Just A Fashion, and Rickey Walcott aboard Sirius Black, bought spectators to their feet as they competed in a riveting home stretch duel.
