BASKETBALL IS SET TO BENEFIT from another projected upgrade at its best indoor facility.

Turns out the Wildey Gymnasium is preparing to install a new wooden floor, as Minister of Sports Stephen Lashley revealed the relaying of the court to be among the upcoming refurbishment works slated for the multipurpose sports venue.

It’s just the latest improvement being made to the Gym, which has seen the recent installation of new backboards, extensions and rings a couple months ago to go along with the refurbished big-screen electronic scoreboards.

“I wish to reaffirm the support of the Government of Barbados in promoting the development of basketball [so] as we seek to elevate the standard of basketball and sports in general in Barbados, we also recognise the need for the enabling international-standard facilities,” said Lashley at a recent cocktail reception for the Caribbean Basketball Confederation congress.
