THERE IS A NEW athletics king at The Lodge School by the name of Wade Garner, and a queen called Akayla Morris.
Garner, a long-striding six-footer, stole the spotlight by winning the showpiece Under-20 Boys’ 400 metres event from a quality field in 50.34 seconds.
Overall, the team spotlight on a rainy day at the inter-house athletics championships at the school in Society, St John, was captured by Codrington (Yellow).
They comfortably took the overall title with 1 187.18 points, with Gooding (Green) second on 1 051.8, Emtage (Purple) third on 749.02, Laborde (Red) fourth on 736.72 and Wedderburn (Blue) fifth on 708.34.
Morris’ memorable moment came in the Division 3 Girls’ 100 metres when she shattered Zsazsa Millington’s 30-year Division 3 Girls’ 100 metres mark of 12.65 with a blistering 12.64 seconds run.
