With some reports suggesting there will be an increase in real estate sales this year in Barbados and elsewhere in the Caribbean, two of the most expensive homes ever to be marketed in Barbados are seeking buyers.
Four Winds residential complex at Gibbes, St Peter, and the Gardenia estate in the Garden, St James, are being sold for a combined whopping $210 million, BARBADOS BUSINESS AUTHORITY learnt.
A real estate official said Four Winds was on the market for the past year, while Gardenia has also been available for some time. The properties are seeking buyers through some of Barbados’ leading real estate companies as well as some realtors overseas.
Four Winds, which is being sold for $110 million, is located on 2.5 acres of land and has a main house and a beach house, each with four double bedrooms and a permanent staff of 11.
Gardenia, which is being sold for $100 million, includes nine bedrooms and 10.5 bathrooms. The most recent issue of the annual magazine The Caribbean Property Investor published by British company 7th Heaven Properties, said the Caribbean’s real estate sector was poised for growth this year.
It said the region had “reinforced its appeal to property buyers and investors, particularly in the face of social, economic, and political volatility in other regions”.
“Many investment locations such as the Turks & Caicos, The Bahamas and the Cayman Islands experienced strong growth last year and we expect 2015 to be the year that the Caribbean real estate market as a whole turns a corner.
“A growth in enquiries from prospective buyers indicates a renewed confidence in the region and sales levels on many islands are returning to pre-crisis levels,” 7th Heaven Properties managing director Walter Zephrin said. (SC)
