Oval needs a lift

THESE PROBLEMS go way past goose grass.

First, it was an issue with the turf, but now the historic structure known as Kensington Oval is facing  physical challenges as well.

Rebuilt eight years ago to stage the final of the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) 2007 World Cup, the $135 million investment is now coming apart at the seams in some cases.

Simply put, Kensington is in serious need of a facelift.

Paint finishes have faded across the facility. There are leaky roofs. Some cracks are visible in the walls and even a look at the facility’s clock shows a heavy case of wear and tear, with plaster falling away from the timepiece.
