THE BARBADOS BOXING ASSOCIATION (BBA) will be staging the Horace Phillips Memorial Boxing card at The St Michael School Auditorium next Saturday.
The ten-bout card will be first event of the year for the BBA and will feature several local boxers opposing each other, in addition to boxers from Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana.
BBA president Anthony Jones disclosed plans for the event at a media briefing at the National Stadium on Thursday.
He said the bouts would help hone and sharpen the skills of the local boxers, some of whom will be selected to represent Barbados in tournaments later this year beginning with the Goodwill Tournament in Guadeloupe in April.
Other tournaments include the Pan-American Games Qualifier in Argentina
in May, the Creole Championships in Martinique in July and the revived Caribbean Championships in Aruba in September. (CH)
