THE BARBADOS BOTTLING Company (BBC) is giving away close to 1 000 bottles of water for World Water Day.

BBC distributed 400 bottles of BBC bottled water to the Vauxhall Primary School, which lies in the catchment of the Christ Church plant.

St Giles Primary School received 450 bottles.

Public relations manager Sophia Cambridge said Barbados was preparing to join the rest of the world in recognising the 22nd World Water Day tomorrow.

“We recognise that children, particularly younger ones, have a range of beverages that they like to consume but we are parents at Banks Holding as well and we recognise that it is important to have a balance,” Cambridge said.

Cambridge told the children that it was not necessary for them to drink the BBC product but could use a glass of water straight from the tap because Barbados is blessed to have an abundant and a steady supply.

Principal Lionel Stoute also encouraged the students to drink more water stating that it sustained life.

He told them that they could live without food for many days but could not do the same thing without water.

Process support specialist at Pine Hill Dairy, Rashida Taylor, also spoke of the benefits of drinking water.

This year’s theme is Water And Sustainable Development. (LK)
