Win No. 2 for Barbados Gems

BARBADOS and St Lucia are the only unbeaten teams after the latest round of matches in the Caribbean Netball Association Jean Pierre Youth Tournament now playing in St Lucia.

Returning to action after a rest day, Barbados easily defeated Bermuda 36-10. From a close opening quarter where Barbados led 9-6, the Gems settled in and found their offensive rhythm, leading 22-7 at half-time.

With good offence comes good defence and Barbados limited Bermuda to only two goals in the third period (29-9) before closing out the match.

Goal shooter Romancia Odwin scored 22 from 32. Goal attack Trishan Deane scored ten from 12 and Tricia Phillips four from eight.

In the first match today, Grenada stunned St Vincent and the Grenadines 25-23 in a nail-biter. Grenada lead 7-2 and 11-10 at the half, before St Vincent fought back and went ahead 19-15.

Iteisha Mathews led Grenada with 24 from 29 and Carolyn Alexander shot 17 goals from 26 attempts for St Vincent.

Trinidad & Tobago suffered a third straight loss, going down 18-24 to Dominica.

Matches continue at this evening with St Vincent and the Grenadines against St Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago versus Bermuda and Barbados playing Grenada.

On Sunday, St Vincent defeated Trinidad and Tobago 22-14; Bermuda stunned Grenada 27-18 and St Lucia beat Dominica 25-18. (SAT)
