NATIONAL FOOTBALLERS are about to pocket an unprecedented pay packet.

It has come about because FIFA, football’s governing body, has given all of its affiliates participating in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers US$300 000 to help with their expenses.

President of the Barbados Football Association (BFA) Randy Harris told SUNSPORT that his association would be using part of the money to reward players for their efforts in trying to get Barbados as far as possible in the qualifiers for the event to be hosted by Russia.

Harris wasn’t specific about the amount that would be shelled out to players in the 20-man squad but stated it would be much greater than they were accustomed to.
