TWO MEMBERS OF GOVERNMENT have given their backing to spiritual devotions remaining in all Barbadian schools.
Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler as well as parliamentary secretary in the Ministry of Education, Senator Harry Husbands, made their views clear while addressing Deacons Primary School’s 50th anniversary awards gala at Bagatelle Great House, St Thomas, on Sunday night.
A former teacher, Husbands lamented that were it not for that daily 20 minutes at assembly, some children would desperately be worse off, particularly as it pertained to discipline.
And as the country grappled with a reportedly high level of indiscipline among schoolchildren as demonstrated through a number of social media posts, he said he believed that prayer in schools was needed more than ever. (SDB Media)
