BARBADOS ROUNDED OUT pool play at the 2015 Netball World Cup with a third successive defeat.
Barbados Gems were beaten 55-39 by Trinidad and Tobago at the Allphones Arena last night in Sydney, Australia.
Trinidad’s superior fitness seemed to kick in at the same time goal attack Nikita Piggott went to the bench in the second quarter. They turned the three-goal deficit (10-13) into a half-time lead (23-21) and then stamped their authority in the final quarter, outscoring Barbados 17-6.
Samantha Wallace was solid at goal shooter for Trinidad, scoring 37 goals from 42 attempts and Shonica Wharton also had a strong game for Barbados, converting 23 of her 25 attempts.
Barbados again suffered for lack of service to the circle, having only 44 attempts compared to Trinidad’s 62.
