Falling apart

PATIENTS LYING on mattresses on the floor, rotting benches and chairs, rusty appliances and crumbling walls – these are among the poor conditions revealed in photos of a section of the Psychiatric Hospital.

The 30 photographs were emailed to the DAILY NATION last weekend under the caption Help Mental Hospital!

They show benches so old that pieces of cloth were being used to hold them together, patients lying on mattresses on concrete floors and also rusty sinks and stoves.

The photos appear to show extensive decay of the building in a section of the Black Rock institution that was built 124 years ago. (MB)
