Govt to correct quarry mishap

Recovered! Literally!

Residents of Bromefield, St Lucy were relieved yesterday when a contractor for Arawak Cement Company started re-covering an area previously prepared for a marl quarry with tonnes of earth that had been removed over several weeks.

It was the response of the Trinidad Cement Limited-owned company to heavy objection from scores of residents who live immediately downwind of the work site.

They had complained that since the earth-moving work started in early June just 50 metres from some houses they had suffered from an increase in dust in and around their homes and feared it would become unbearable once the company started extracting marl.
