Positive change in campers

AFTER FIVE weeks, positive changes have been reported in some of the 150 campers attending the national summer camp at Christ Church Girls’ Primary School.

In a candid interview yesterday prior to the camp’s open day activities, director Gweneth Rollins pointed to disturbing signsamong the young people, aged 4 to 15, she had been working with.

“When the camp began they were disruptive, disobedient and disrespectful – using inappropriate language and I even found some of them bringing decks of cards to gamble at this early age. Some of these children are really angry and I just don’t know why,” she said.

However, Rollins, who has been camp director for the past three years, kept working with them and said she was satisfied the camp had made a difference in their lives.
