BARBADOS’ unbeaten run at the ongoing Caribbean Regional Badminton Confederation (CAREBACO) Championships in the Dominican Republic came to a screeching halt as both the junior and senior teams suffered losses.

The senior team lost 3-1 to hosts Dominican Republic yesterday as reigning national women’s champion Tamisha Williams was the only one to record a win.

She defeated Daigenis Saturria 21-16, 21-18 in the women’s singles. Andre Padmore was not as lucky in the men’s doubles as he lost 8-21, 21-17, 17-21 in a close men’s singles match.

Williams teamed up with Monyata Riviera in the women’s doubles but they lost in a three-set thriller to the Dominican Republic’s Saturria and Liselot Sanchez. The Bajans lost 21-14, 14-21, 21-19. Dakeil Thorpe and Bradley Pilgrim tried their best in the men’s doubles but they still lost 21-18, 24-22 to Reimi Starling and Miguel Marinez.
