Sobers takes Ebenezer helm

AFTER BEING the centre of attention due to the unconventional style of one of its ministers, the Ebenezer Methodist Circuit has made a first step to normalcy with the installation of new management.

The contentious issue that ruptured attendance in some of the churches in the St Philip circuit surrounded Reverend William St Clair, familiarly known as the “Barefoot Preacher”.

The American lawyer was removed from the Ebenezer and Rices churches where he had been preaching for close to a year since coming to Barbados, and sent to Shrewsbury Church; an action that caused division in the circuit and went as far the Supreme Court for resolution.

Now according to Reverend Anthony Sobers, the new superintendent minister of the Ebenezer circuit, “through God all things are made whole again”. (RA)
