PUBLIC TRANSPORT could be disrupted from as early as 6 a.m. on Monday as some public service vehicle (PSV) operators threaten to pull their vans off the roads.

However, while the action will affect some routes, normal service will continue in other areas.

The Alliance of Owners of Public Transport has not specified which routes will be affected, and maintained that it is not a strike.

Chairman Roy Raphael has vowed: “If we need to call on other sections for assistance we would.”

The owners, operators and conductors are demanding an increase in bus fares or duty-free concessions. They also complained about high fines and insurance costs, and have alleged preferential treatment by authorities on some routes.
