42 drop case against NCC

FORTY-TWO workers made redundant by the National Conservation Commission (NCC) last year are no longer pursuing their claims for unfair dismissal with the Employment Rights Tribunal.

Queen’s Counsel Pat Cheltenham, who is representing the claimants on behalf of the National Union of Public Workers (NUPW), informed the tribunal about the change yesterday as it began hearing the NCC cases at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre.

“The original number of persons represented in this action was 96,” he said. “I have been told that a significant number of persons may have gone elsewhere and I need to be sure of this and I would want to confirm that report which I have by tomorrow.

“The significance of that is that the number which was 96 will start by being reduced immediately by 42.”
