THE EAGERLY ANTICIPATED Barbados Turf Club’s third and final racing season of the year has been cut from five race days to four and will now begin on November 7.
Because of unforeseen circumstances which resulted in the delay in maintenance being carried out on the turf track, the originally scheduled starting day of October 24, has been cancelled by the club’s board of directors.
The remaining dates will be November 21, December 12, with the racing programme climaxing on Boxing Day, December 26.
Apart from the Boxing Day card, on which the island’s best horses will compete over 1 570 metres, this year’s Barbados Winter Jockey Challenge should see another riveting battle with an extremely high quality of jockeymanship expected in this year’s third edition.
