Hosting event pays off, says Yearwood

HOSTING THE Caribbean Championships sure has worked out for Barbados.

Long-standing Barbados Cycling Union (BCU) president Keith Yearwood feels justified for his body’s decision to stage the 15th edition of the regional competition after the hosts delivered five medals on home soil.

“We’ve been getting medals from the inception of this competition and we were at one point the leaders on the medal table in Caribbean road racing and to have added five medals then we are very proud of those sterling performances,” said an elated Yearwood at the end of yesterday’s road race.

“The young boys did ride very well and they must be complimented. It augers well for cycling in Barbados . . .” (JM)
