Minister denies Cahill claims

MINISTER OF THE ENVIRONMENT Dr Denis Lowe is insisting that the Government has not invested any money into the embattled Cahill Project.

Further, he said any money spent on the preparation of documents will be reimbursed by the proponent and that Barbados had to “wake up” and stop believing the “foolishness” that the Government of Barbados was saddling taxpayers with $700 million dollars.

Lowe maintained that several things still need to finalised before the project is given the green light.

“I am telling you now that until the Government receives all of the requisite sign-offs the project will not happen. But if the Government receives all of the requisite sign-offs and it is shown by the relevant authorities, including the Town and Country Planning Office, that the project is a viable, necessary project, then the Opposition will have a fight on their hands,” Lowe told the House of Assembly.
