Windies aiming to shine and rise

COLOMBO, SRI LANKA – With the West Indies embarrassingly missing out on qualification for the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy, captain Jason Holder is painfully aware of the importance of the three-match One-Day International (ODI) series against Sri Lanka.

The West Indies are starting to set their sights on the next ICC World Cup in four years.

The top eight teams in the ODI rankings on September 30, 2017 will progress directly into the marquee 50-overs event and Holder is keen for the West Indies to start their upward move as quickly as possible.

“It’s definitely in the forefront of our minds,” Holder said.
