BARBADIANS CAN EXPECT some major savings on their electricity bills when the Barbados Light and Power completes its major solar project in St Lucy in August next year.

That assurance comes from chief executive officer of Emera Inc, Chris Huskilson who spoke at a ground-breaking ceremony this afternoon.

Huskilson said the $40 million project will reduce the oil import bill and the savings will go directly to consumers.

Between 60 and 80 locals will be employed to work on the project, which is expected to be completed in eight months. (YB)
