‘Venom’ cripples Branch

WITH EYES fixed on a three-peat, defending Massy United Insurance Clash Of The Titans champion Mark “Venom” Griffith joined the battle at Coverley on Wednesday night and waved goodbye to Jamal Branch.

Not even a rain-induced 20-minute delay of the night cap game seemed to bother Griffith as he displayed his rapidly improving attacking arsenal to dismiss the languid looking Branch 21-8, 21-14.

Griffith scored seven points before Branch earned his first and at 19-5 the fans were wondering whether Griffith would allow his former training partner to escape the embarrassment of a sow.

But after ignoring Coverley’s covenant about raising livestock in the Villages, Griffith easily marched away from 13-11 to close out the second game and a night of absorbing battles. (KB)
