9 per cent hike in Banks sales

BEING IN THE NEWS has certainly worked for Banks Holdings Limited (BHL).

The country’s main beer maker is smiling at an almost ten per cent increase in business for this time of the year when compared to 2014, in spite of being embroiled in a takeover bid by Latin American beverage giant AmBev, and regional powerhouse ANSA McAl.

And chief executive officer Richard Cozier is expecting a bumper Independence and Christmas period, even though the takeover war is raging.

“We are certainly getting a lot of airplay. And it has helped. We are always top of mind with Barbadians at this time, and it hasn’t changed. We also always benefit from the tourist season, and for the past three months, our numbers are holding strong in the middle of the takeover bid.”
