“FANTASTIC. Comparable with any circuit in England.”

That’s how former British racing driver Mike Crabtree, who competed at Bushy Park in the 1970s, described the new facility after a tour and test drive last weekend.

“It’s great. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw it,” said Crabtree, who competed in the 1969 British Saloon Car Championship season, in which he finished fourth overall with 54 points.

Apart from racing at Bushy Park, he drove Ford Escorts in the touring car championships in the 1970s and also raced in endurance events such as the Spa 24 Hours race and the European Touring Car Championship (ETCC), before competing in the Ginetta GT Junior Championship in 2007 and 2008.
