Dean against 24/7 society

IF THERE IS ONE MAN who is not in favour of Barbados becoming a 24-hour work society, it’s retiring dean of St Michael’s Cathedral, Dr Frank Marshall.

He admitted that while the proposal might be good for business, it could turn Barbadians into robots who would lose the ability to recreate. It could also spell a “disconnect” among young people that would lead to a rise in crime and violence, he declared.

Marshall was speaking to the congregation at a service to mark a Sunday Of National Thanksgiving For Independence, the start of the new church year, a week of activities by the Barbados Audit Department and his last Sunday as dean of the church. (HLE)
