TWO ST PHILIP FAMILIES are grieving over the “senseless” deaths of loved ones.
Shane Nurse, who was 34, and Dwayne Burgess, 35, were both gunned down in separate incidents on Independence Day.
Nurse, who lived at Ruby Tenantry, was shot repeatedly as his brother stood helplessly nearby, while Burgess was shot while providing security in a St Philip Carnival band. His 14-year-old daughter witnessed the gruesome killing.
An angry Troy Nurse and other family members are still trying to understand why a man opened fire on Shane after he warned him not to throw bottles in their yard.
When a MIDWEEK NATION team visited the family home, relatives were sitting around teary-eyed and consoling each other. (MB)
