Sheehy: VAT will cut revenue

FLOW BARBADOS anticipates that the January 1 implementation of 22 per cent value added tax (VAT) on cellular phone use will impact on the company’s revenue.

Managing director Niall Sheehy said that though they did not anticipate that the company would lose customers, the challenge would be how much customers wanted  to spend.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday night from the Fusion Rooftop Restaurant at Limegrove where Flow launched its Let Christmas Flow promotion, Sheehy said: “For sure, the reality is that both mobile providers will be impacted . . . in terms of the actual share of wallet.

“People will probably spend the same amount of money; it will mean that we as providers will likely get less.” (LK)
