No way out

COMPLETELY ABANDONED. That is how residents of White Hill, St Andrew say they feel about the time it is taking Government to create an access road for them.

Yesterday around 11:30 a.m., after a bearded fig tree collapsed across the footpath they use to get to and from their homes, blocking the road and tearing down electricity and telephone lines, residents aired their concerns.

“It’s all over for us now,” was the anguished cry from Carlitha Andrews. “We have no electricity, we have no phone, no Internet, we have no road . . . Lord forbid something major happen up here,” she said.

Andrews pleaded with Minister of Transport and Works Michael Lashley to come and see what could be done for them.
