FRUSTRATED TAXI DRIVERS at both the air and sea ports are now turning to the Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU) for help.
This was confirmed yesterday by general secretary Toni Moore at the union’s annual Christmas luncheon for retirees at Solidarity House.
Taxi operators have repeatedly expressed frustration over what they claimed was unfair treatment, where tour operators were given first choice of the jobs, particularly at the Bridgetown Port.
Last October, members of both the Bridgetown Co-op Taxi and the Independent Seaport Union complained about the port instituting a one-line system instead of two lines to regulate their operations, which, according to drivers, saw fewer taxis getting into the port, while tour operators continued to reap the sweets with their big coaches.
