Early morning quake

AFTER A MONTH OF reduced seismic activity, an earthquake was recorded off the northeast coast of Barbados this mornin.

According to information provided by the University of the West Indies Seismic Research Centre, the 4.0 magnitude tremor was recorded around 1:51 a.m. some 136km to the northeast of Bridgetown.

It was at a depth of 10km at Latitude 14 degrees north and Longitude 58.76 degrees west.

The last earthquake in that general area was around November 9 where a 4.0 was recorded at the same depth. On November 11, a 4.1 was recorded to the east south-east, between Barbados and St Vincent. (SAT)
