Ecuador students taste Bajan Christmas

Principal of the Cave Hill campus of the University of the West Indies (UWI), Professor Eudine Barriteau, donned her Santa hat last Friday night as she joined in giving visiting Ecuadorians a taste of a Bajan Christmas.

Barriteau hosted the celebration at the campus’ Mount Restaurant for the 50 teachers taking part in the seven-month Teach English Caribbean Programme.

While the visitors appeared to enjoy the poems, line dancing and singing, the highlight was clearly the tuk band and Mother Sally.

After attempting to mimic the Mother Sally moves and putting their own spin to the movements, host Carl Alf Padmore, entertainer and comedian, jokingly asked the five volunteers if they were related to Bajans.
