TRANSGENDER BARBADIAN woman Kim Watson has come in for more criticism for the negative comments made about Barbados as a tolerant society.

This time it’s from Minister of Gender Affairs, Steve Blackett.

He believes Watson did a disservice to Barbados and Barbadians recently, by claiming that because of her sexual orientation she would be tortured or even killed if she returned to this country.

Watson had made the claims to a court in New York whilst facing deportation, and won the case, allowing her to stay in Brooklyn. But she came in for strong criticism for her comments, especially from social media users.

Blackett added: “When I saw the comments she made, I wondered if that is the same Barbados I grew up in, or even that I am now living in today,” a concerned Blackett told the SUNDAY SUN. (BA)
