Pride and talent

THE ARTISTIC PRIDE of Barbados was on stage at its best in Independence Square on Wednesday night.

With 328 more days on the counter before the island celebrates its golden jubilee, a virtual who’s who of Bajan artistes, complemented by some budding talent, took to the stage to do their part to officially launch the year-long celebrations.

The line-up was such that could draw top dollar at any prestigious venue, but the thousands who packed Independence Square, nearby Heroes Squares, the Charles Duncan O’Neal and Chamberlain bridges and other vantage spots, and the countless others who watched the live broadcast on television got it at an unbeatable price – free of cost.

As if by clockwork, the singing and video clips flowed seamlessly into each other as the six separate segments of the package unfolded.
