ONE CHRIST CHURCH neighbourhood has taken the cry to recycle to heart.
The Atlantic Shores Neighbourhood Watch Programme launched its neighbourhood recycling programme yesterday, with one member saying the neighbourhood and its programme could become a model for all to follow.
Shari Lobo said the programme was started a month ago but, with the increase in interest from residents, it moved from generating one third of a truckload, to two truckloads of recyclable materials twice a month.
“We decided to show that recycling in Barbados was not difficult. It’s just about connecting the dots. I think the challenge is knowing what to do and how to do it but we decided to try to do something better for Barbados to ensure that our children and our grandchildren live in a clean environment,” she said.
