JOSHUA KELLY certainly got his just rewards.

The new face of local cycling must be smiling pretty now, having hauled in the lion’s share of awards, including two Cyclist of the Year honours when the Barbados Cycling Union held its 2014/2015 prize-giving gala on Friday at the Barbados Public Workers’ Cooperative Credit Union.

They came in recognition of two truly outstanding seasons, during which the 19-year-old made history by becoming the first ever Bajan rider to capture the Caribbean Elite Cycling Championships’ time trial on home soil.

But that was just the peak of Kelly’s success, as the France-based pro rider – who wasn’t present to receive his awards – was also named the Most Outstanding Junior Road Rider in 2014 after copping a silver medal at the Caribbean Junior Road Race Championships that year. (JM)
