JONATHAN JONES wrote his name in the CARIFTA Games’ record books in Grenada yesterday evening with a superb run in the Under-18 Boy’s 1500 metres.

The 17-year-old Coleridge & Parry schoolboy from Checker Hall, St Lucy, left his opponents in his wake as he raced to the finish line in a new record time of three minutes 57.19 seconds at the Flow CARIFTA Games in St George’s.

Sada Williams was also sublime in winning the Under-20 Girls’ 400 in a new Barbados junior record time of 52.07 seconds.

At the end of the first day of action, Barbados had gained seven medals – two gold, three silver and two bronze.
