YOUNG PEOPLE IN BARBADOS have been encouraged to allow their voices to be heard.
Yesterday, The Bridgetown Toastmasters & Lions Club of Barbados Central, held their Youth Leadership Programme graduation ceremony for 12 young and now accomplished speakers at The National Union of Public Workers Headquarters, Dalkeith, St Michael.
Coordinator and Toastmaster Antoine Williams said the graduates of this year’s programme “succeeded all limitations [showcasing] good vocal variety”.
During her remarks, President of Bridgetown Toastmasters Ruth Moisa-Stoute urged the graduates to read widely as it would help them in becoming more informed speakers.
“Be an advocate for a good cause. Speak up and speak out. Speak for change. Speak out against lawlessness and bullying,” she added.
Coordinator and past president of the Bridgetown Central Lions Club Jocelyn King said the eight-week programme attracted more numbers than in previous years. (MR)
