STARTING NEXT YEAR, an estimated 250 Barbadian households are expected to gain some much needed assistance through technical and financial support funded by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Social Care, Constituency Empowerment and Community Development, Janet Phillips, made the announcement over the weekend. She was giving brief remarks at the launch of the second phase of the Implementation Stabilisation Enablement and Empowerment (ISEE) Bridge Programme and the presentation of ATM cards held at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre.

Although Phillips did not go into much detail about the initiative, she said she expected that more than 2 000 people would benefit over the next four years.

“I am happy as a permanent secretary who loves people and who loves to be a part of sharing and giving to be associated with such a wonderful programme that will impact on the lives of many persons in Barbados,” Phillips said.
