White Hill targeted

WHITE HILL, St Peter was the site of another clean-up as health officials continued to bear down on illegal dumpers across the island.

A team led by environmental health officer Ryle Rock had the location cleared on Monday of about ten truckloads of garbage after a firm had paid a waste hauler to take the garbage to the landfill.

Instead, that hauler failed to carry out the task, passing it over to another hauler which took the garbage, not to the landfill in St Thomas, but to White Hill.

“We in Barbados are slowly becoming an indisciplined and lawless society. We have no regard for people’s property. We have no regard for law and order,” said Rock. (AC/RL)
