RATHER THAN BEATING the books yesterday, Rhys Hackett and Aliyah Yearwood, who will sit the 11-Plus exam today, spent their time frolicking at the beach.

They were among families and church groups who held picnics at Batts Rock, St Michael, to celebrate May Day.

Rhys, who was picnicking with family, said he had put the books aside and was looking to relax. The student of The People’s Cathedral has his sights set on entering Queen’s College from September.

Melissa Nurse-Herbert, Rhys’ mother, said the picnic was the easy choice because they wanted to do something that he would enjoy and be relaxed. She said they had already gone through the preparation over and over and over, and after the picnic it was time to go home to get an early rest.  (LK)
