GOVERNMENT WILL BE forging ahead with its long-term programme towards economic stability, but will be making a special effort not to dislocate low-income workers and the middle class in the process.
That promise has come from Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler following a relatively encouraging report from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) last week.
In an interview with the DAILY NATION, Sinckler said Government was not in agreement with everything suggested by the IMF, but would keep its eyes on the prize.
“Our goal of course is to progressively but sustainably reduce the deficit, which on either basis is still too high for financing purposes or for debt stabilisation and reduction intentions,” Sinckler said yesterday. (BA)
