Back in court

THE NEXT EPISODE in the legal wrangle involving the Barbados Amateur Bodybuilding & Fitness Federation (BABBFF) will be heard tomorrow morning in the Supreme Court.

And according to the legal firm of Simmons and Babb, acting on behalf of Manasseh King and Irvine “Big Red’s” Streete, closure could be imminent when the two parties meet before Justice Pamela Beckles.

“I would like to see this matter end this week [tomorrow]. We will not be side-tracked and will focus on the substantive matter. It is not a technical or complicated issue and I am looking forward to the hearing,” says lead counsel Alvan Babb.

The substantive matter revolves around the constitutionality of last October’s controversial general meeting of the federation with the plaintiffs charging that the elections of officers at that meeting did not follow the general requirements of the constitution governing the BABBFF. (MK)
